August 2012 in Tokyo

It's time to wrap up my weekend on August! :))

Harajuku, Shibuya, and Meiji Jingu Shrine
Sunday, August 5 2012

I met Takuya and Seika at Meijijingu-Mae subway station. we went to Harajuku and Shibuya. I have been there before, when I attended International conference in Japan on March 2012, but never feel bored to see Harajuku area :D

Near United Nations University
With Seika, hope it comes true!
After that we went to Meiji Jingu Shrine near Shibuya. Here, there is a place called Temiyuza where worshipers or visitor wash their hands, then rinse their mouths, before proceeding on. In this temple there is Ema (a wooden tablet into which wishes may be written). People either hang them at one of the hooks provided, you will find them around the camphor tree on the eastern side in front of the main shrine building. There will be table and pens to write wishes into the tablets. Seika bought a tablet for me and I wrote my wishes in Bahasa Indonesia. Haha

Seika could not stay longer with us because she had something to do, then Takuya and I met Takumi (he did internship in my city last year) and Gouma. we had lunch at United Nations University.

Welcoming Party
Saturday, August 11 2012

Edo-Tokyo Museum

It was my welcoming party and 2 chinese EP held by AIESEC LC Keio Sfc. We went to Edo-Tokyo Museum, as a facility to preserve the historical heritage of Edo-Tokyo. At the special exhibition gallery, visitors can enjoy selected exhibits on subjects related to Tokyo's history and culture.

Nihonbashi Bridge

I saw Nihonbashi Bridge and Edo zone (Edo at the start, life in Edo, and Edo culture). At the beginning of the Edo zone is a replica of the Ninonbashi Bridge. Just the pasr the bridge is an introduction to the politics of the Edo Era. As one moves from the 6th floor to the 5th floor, one can then view display portraying the lifestyle, the economic system, and the culture of the Edo Era. The Edo zone potrays the characteristic lifestyle of the Edo culture.

Tokyo Zone (the birth of Tokyo-capital of Japan, modern urban life, war and reconstruction). it starts at the conversion from the Edo Era to the Tokyo Era. The European and American influences that first started the Meiji Era can be seen. Then, the effects of world war II and the reconstruction period that occurred after the war can be learned about.

Two queens haha

It was my first time to celebrate Idul Fitri without family. I did not know any indonesian people who living here before. I tried to find Indonesia students association in Tokyo, added their group page on Facebook. I contacted one of them. His name is Arief, luckily he is nice and wanted to help me to get to Indonesia School in Tokyo (place we did praying). He also introduced me to Idot, a university student from UPI, bandung doing exchange program in Japan. We made appointment at Meguro station. At the station I met so many Indonesian people. I got to know with Kak May and her friends, they are from Java island, working in Tokyo as a nurse. There was a woman sat next to me, her name is Tante Fauziah. You know what? She comes from Padang as well!:D She married with a Brazilian. His son is so cute. She told me her experiences marrying with foreigner.
